Cluster Algebras are certain commutative algebras that have found to be surprisingly ubiquitous in mathematics and physics over the last decade and a half.  In this talk I will introduce the audience to cluster algebras and cluster categories, and discuss a higher dimensional analogue of such categories.  Higher Cluster Categories match up with combinatorial models from higher quantum field theories as will be illustrated in this talk.  This is based on joint work with Sebastian Franco of CCNY.

Tea is available at 3:30pm in the lobby of Ritter Hall, with the talk to follow at 4:10pm in 202 Ritter Hall.
