Hi Sharon. Welcome to the workshop wiki, and thanks for starting your user page. I'm writing this on your User talk page, which you can see by clicking "my talk" in the links at the top of the wiki page. When someone writes to your talk page, you get an automatically generated email alert from the wiki server, so it's a convenient way to communicate with other participants in the workshop.

You're doing an art and math seminar already? Cool.. what's your class size/makeup? Do you have a syllabus or course materials online that you could post a link to? Bryan 20:01, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Yes, it would be interesting to compare notes here. Barta 23:53, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

The syllabus is undergoing revision this summer but will be online by the fall. We have about 15-18 students in the seminar; every first year needs to take one and they get to choose their top five. Most of the time they get one of those. They get no math credit for it only general education credit. This fall is the fourth time I will have taught it. I will also be using teaching assistants for the first time. Two students who have already been through the course. A little nervous about it. We usually start the course with talking about what is beauty and apply that to mathematical beauty. The content is not too mathematical... we delve into a little numeralogy and apply those to artwork. Plus the basic symmetries, patterns, ratios, perspective, etc. It is fun!

I have also done an honors seminar on math, art and culture team taught with a history professor.
