I've been a faculty member at Saint Louis University since 2000, after a two year stint at the City University of New York (teaching at Hunter College). My interest in geometry goes way back to high school or maybe even those pattern blocks I got to play with in Kindergarten. I started combining math and art as a grad student at U. of Chicago, when I taught a one quarter class on non-Euclidean geometry. I started working with Anneke on the Escher class in 2000 and have taught it regularly since then.
When not busy with my five year old son Benjamin and two year old daughter Rebecca, I'm probably playing ultimate frisbee, cooking, or noodling on my computer.
In this workshop, I'm hoping to make some new friends, learn a lot about art, show off the Escher wiki, and put a little dent in the tyranny of college algebra over non-technical college students. I'm looking for some fresh ideas to use in Escher next year, and this workshop should be a spark for that.
The wiki got moved in fall 08.. here was the New Server Test Page.
